Amongst Moscow’s striking modern architecture stands the Luzhniki Stadium, the National Stadium of Russia. This superb 81,000 seater stadium, which famously hosted the 2018 World Cup final that saw France lift the Jules Rimet Trophy, is one of the largest stadiums in Europe. It is a world class forum for sporting events with a truly unforgettable atmosphere.
Part of its ongoing development was the implementation of the Luzhniki Aquacomplex, boasting an Olympic sized pool, water park, showers, saunas, VIP saunas, sports hall, children’s pool, shopping and cafe. A comprehensive audio installation was undertaken by Russian Van Damme distributor Sound Technology. This involved the installation and tuning of underwater speakers as well as a background sound system throughout the 6 floor complex. Sound Technology chose Van Damme for the whole install and all told over 15km of Van Damme was used.
Due to the tough nature of the install, the long distances and the complexity of the architecture Van Damme Black Series Tour Grade Multicore Speaker Cable 8 × 2.5 mm², 4 × 2.5 mm² and 2 x 1.5 mm² were chosen for the loudspeakers.
Konstantin Pogorsky, of Sound Technology was full of praise; “The cable endured extreme installation, numerous bends and perfectly showed its strength properties, even when colliding with sharp iron structures. There was no damage. And the ability to transmit an audio signal over long distances provided easy installation, sound quality, the absence of interference. Also used was the Van Damme TourCat Cat 6A S/FTP ultra-flexible twisted-pair cable. This was selected to transmit the digital audio signal, and allowed high speed transmission of the Dante control signals for the entire system without delays or interference. High quality shielding protected against electromagnetic interference as well as allowing for long distance cable runs.
Finally, to connect the concert audio PA equipment, supplied by Voice Acoustic (line array and subwoofers), Van Damme Black Series Tour Grade Twin Axial Speaker Cable 2 × 4.0 mm² and 4 x 4.0 mm² were selected for their superior quality and flexibility.
The Aquacomplex is now open to the public and there is no doubt that Van Damme and Sound Technology have made the place a must visit location for any visitors looking to see the best of Moscow.
