Termed ‘The palace of culture and sports’, Gazovik opened November 6, 1983 in Orenburg, Russia, financed by Gazprom. The venue boasts an 800-seat concert hall along with the smaller ‘conference’ and ‘small’ halls.
At the beginning of September 2018, the refurbishment of the large concert hall and the spacious foyer was completed. The Russian distributor for Van Damme cable, Sound Technology, successfully designed the placement and installation of sound and lighting equipment for the project, using up to 3.85 km of Van Damme cable throughout.
Today, the Palace employs 330 people and the city of Orenburg annually hosts more than 600 events, from concerts of local creatives to performances from famous artists.
Sound Technology were tasked with creating sound systems able to deliver concert worthy sound, and state of the art lighting production for the concert hall. Audio installation for the foyer was also part of the project.
Meyer Sound speakers were installed in the concert hall. These were connected with 1100 meters of Van Damme Tour Grade Classic XKE starquad microphone cable. Blue series Studio Grade 2 core twin-ax was then used to connect the speakers in the foyer and RM server in the concert hall.
Ecoflex Install Grade LSZH speaker multicore was also used for the installation of stage monitors from Voice Acoustic. Brown Series OB Transmission Grade pre-jacketed 8-way quad multicore was used in stage hatches with connectors.
The state-of-the-art lighting set up was connected with the help of Smart control DMX 1 pair cable. The TourCat Cat 6A was also used to carry the line from the stage boxes to the digital mixing console.
Sound Technology commented: “Van Damme cable ensured that the full potential of the sound system was reached. The cable guaranteed a trouble-free and totally reliable concert system, as well as quality background audio and artistic lighting”.
