TELL US HOW IT ALL BEGAN
“Total Sound Solutions is a Production company based in Swansea, South Wales. Established in 2003 the company has grown from a simple sound rental company to a full production company offering Sound, Lighting, Visual & Staging to event around the UK.”

Managing Director Chris Hooke has been in the entertainment industry since a young age and fell into the industry while studying his degree, and within a few years the company began to grow and started to take on more staff. The Company recently celebrated 21yrs in Aug 2024 and now has 6x key members of staff running the day-to-day operations while having a very strong freelance list to help with live events & installations.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST CHALLENGING PROJECT TO DATE?
“The most challenging event to date has to be Lakefest, where we providing sound to the Main Stage, Road to Lakefest Stage, Cocktail Bar & Ultra VIP. The Main Stage was home to artists including, Stranglers, Rudimental, Sigala, The Libertines & Olly Murs over the 4-day event in Aug 2024.”

“The biggest challenge on that was the stage splits and multiple modular stageboxes around the stage and the festival patch. After the weekend, we’re definitely investing in a VDM Patch Panel and Splits to make life easier going forward. Total Sound Solutions since day one only uses Van Damme Cabling for all its signal cable, Modular stageboxes and Speaker Cables.”

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US AN INSTALLATION YOU’RE PARTICULARLY PROUD OF?
“Back in Jan 2022 we installed a brand new State of the Art Nexo System in Swansea Grand Theatre.”

I KNOW YOU COMPANY DOES A FAIR SHARE OF CUSTOM PANEL WORK, WHICH OF OUR CABLES HAVE PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN THE WORKSHOP?
“All the cabling in Total Sound is from VDC. Every XLR, Jack, BNC, if it’s a cable, it’s VDC. This also applied to our stageboxes, from the the 4-8 small boxes to the 16ch modular VDM boxes. VDC with Neutrik is what we put our trust in and hasn’t let us down since day 1.”
