Van Damme Powers The Victoria & Albert Museum’s Lecture Theatre Upgrade

Situated within the V&A South Kensington’s historic halls, the Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre stands as a testament to Victorian opulence. Restored to the highest standards and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, this lecture theatre is a masterpiece in itself. With a stage beneath an ornate cupola and walls adorned with images of artistic legends, it provides an ideal backdrop for presentations and cultural events.

We seized the opportunity to contribute to this iconic cultural institution, and the V&A South Kensington opted for our top-of-the-line Van Damme cable, Black Series Tour Grade, and Enhanced Performance UHD Vision.

The Van Damme cables used in the upgrade included:

Van Damme Reduced OD Speaker Cable Range: Maximising Efficiency

Our Reduced OD speaker cable range, featuring 2 and 4 core 4mm cables, is engineered to minimise overall diameter while maximising efficiency. These cables play a crucial role in the intricate setup, facilitating speaker multi pins for amplifier break-ins or speaker breakouts. Beyond contributing to a streamlined audio system, they also aid in minimising truck weight, presenting a practical and efficient solution.

Enhanced Performance HD 12G Vision Coaxial: Precision in Every Pixel

The Van Damme Enhanced Performance HD 12G Vision coaxial, based on the industry-standard RG11/U, offers precision construction for optimised electrical performance. This translates to a flawless audio-visual experience, handling 4K Single-link 12 Gb/s UHDTV, SMPTE 424M and 292M HD-SDI signals, as well as SDI and analog video with ease. Every pixel is delivered with utmost clarity, making it the perfect choice for a venue such as the V&A South Kensington that demands uncompromising quality.

Neutrik Parts: Elevating Every Connection

Complementing our cable offerings, VDC also provided a selection of Neutrik parts, further enhancing the audio-visual setup. These components ensure robust connections, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of the theatre’s intricate system.

“When designing the new AV system for our Lecture Theatre at the V&A South Kensington, I knew that the cabling infrastructure was going to be a crucial element that could not be compromised on.  The incredibly knowledgeable team at VDC were able to assist every step of the way and have been a pleasure to work with!” Aaron Kelly, AV Support Team Leader for the Victoria and Albert Museum
